2012 Leisure Events

WCW caters for riders of all abilities, from those starting out to those who want to try their hand at racing.

Below are details of local leisure events which members may want to participate. Many are associated with worthy charities and provide a great day out while also helping a great cause. Contact the PRO or any members of the committee if there's an event which you would like to promote to members.

WCW Gear Launch Night - Sunday 13th

WCW launches new gear with sponsors in Oscar's Bistro, Dominic Street, Galway.

On Sunday 13th May at 5pm, WCW will have a launch event for the new 2012 gear.

The new gear has been well received, and provides club members with the quality kit needed to deal with Galway's 4 seasons in one day weather.

All members, past and present, are welcome to come support the club. Finger food will be provided.

Galway Cycling League kicks off

The four Galway cycling clubs have come together to provide a series of events over the spring/summer season, the Galway Cycling League.

The first event is off on Tuesday 3rd April with a 16K TT, signing on at Supervalu Loughrea from 6.30.

It provides the perfect opportunity for club cyclist to try out racing in a smaller group environment, and great training for open races. With the handicap system it provides an opportunity for more experienced cyclists to test themselves.

West Coast Wheelers Open Race 2012

wcw_open_race_2012.jpg

After last year's successful return of the West Coast Wheelers open race, WCW will be once again kicking off the road racing season west of the Shannon, on Sunday 26th February.

Not too far west however, as Loughrea is only 2 hours from the M50 with the new motorway. Race prizes are generously sponsored by Nigels Cycles Galway and MBW Galway and Tullamore, with KOH sponsored by Tri Bikes Loughrea.

New Club gear is here!

For those who ordered club gear, it has arrived, and can be collected from Brian O'Donnell (087 4172229)/

For those of you who have not paid, pass on the money to one of the committee members - no cash no gear.
